On 20.12.20 I accompanied my sister-in-law to a seminar at the Armada Hotel, PJ. Basically the seminar was an introduction to internet business and I tag along to see what useful information we could get from the seminar. As I expected, most of the information there was things that I already knew about. Things like SEO, Adwords, Website buiding (duh).. etc etc.. Although it was, as I said, information that I already knew, it was kind of nice to know that I was on the right track :). Hurray for me!

Anyway, we had a light dinner at the coffee house before the seminar. Both of us had Cappuccino to make sure we stay awake that 2.5hrs (in case it was boring) and we shared a plate of “Nasi Goreng Kampung” (Fried Rice). It was quite nice actually. It had two sticks for satay (one for each of us), squid, crackers and egg. Enjoy the view :)

This picture is taken in one of the rooms that we saw at The Majestic Hotel. One of the attraction here for me is the monitor mounts. How awesome would it be to have one mounted tv like that in the dining area or even in the kitchen right? As we dine, we can watch tv or better still cook along with Gordon Ramsey for instance.. lol!

I use my phone to do a multitude of function. One of them is to take photo of the food that I enjoy and post them here. I am too lazy to always bring my camera so I need a phone that has a good enough camera feature to take decent pictures. My Samsung Galaxy Note has a 8megapixel camera and it takes awesome pictures so much so that it is the only camera I use these days.

I also use my phone to tweet, to facebook and to blog so I need to always make sure it is safe from any virus, malware or spyware. I use software from the android market for now but maybe I should consider buying security software from www.softwaresecuritysolutions.com for Android security purpose. I mean my life is in my phone somewhat so it deserves the best right?

Continuing with my post about the food served at The Majestic Hotel KL Grand opening…

Next on the menu was Cod Fish served with parsley sauce and semi dried tomato and Hainanese Chicken Chop, cracker-crumbed deep-fried chicken with garden peas, hand-cut fries in a tangy onion gravy.

I was surprised that there seemed to be two main dishes and since I was already full from the fish, which was really good by the way, I could only finish half of the chicken chop. Emila, my blogging buddy, was not able to finished her either..

The is a lot of  rooms that can be used in The Majestic Hotel. One of the them is The Smoke House that has their own bar, grooming room, cigar room (there a lot of cigars there.. I’m sure there are not the cheapest davidoff cigars type), private dining area with a Chef on call, screening room and a card room. Although the place is exclusive, it is very comfortable and I can just imagine gentlemen conducting and closing deals here.

So I’ve written about The Majestic Hotel Grand Opening itself, let’s now blog about the food served that evening. I will break this post up into three parts since it was several courses ;)

Let me first say how beautifully decorated the ballroom was. I just love the table setup as you can see below.

Ballroom setup

When we arrived and seated at our table, The Classic Prawn Cocktail made of fresh shredded lettuce, chopped cucumber and spicy cocktail sauce was already waiting for us on the dining table. Yums! It was really delish!

This was closely followed by the Mulligatawny, a spiced peppery broth made of Indian spices and lentils. This tasted a little like “Soto” the thicker version.

I was invited by Emila to a “black tie” event yesterday and although I would have loved to dressed to the theme and leave my patagonia women’s better sweater home, I didn’t manage to find anything suitable at such short notice. So I did the best I can and came up with a semi suitable outfit, I guess. Luckily for us, the “media” people also didn’t dress up according to the theme as we were seated at the “media” table, we didn’t really feel that uncomfortable.

Not to self: Buy some nice and fancy stuff that I can wear to fancy event!

Will blog about the event and food, of course, in my coming post!

Have you guys tried Garrett Popcorn?

Well, my bff, Marzie, introduce this to me when we were out on our girls day out at One Utama. She bought a pack for me, Emila and Nessa and I don’t know about the other two ladies but I truly enjoyed it to the max (thanks GP!). And because I had the one with Macadamia nuts, Azwaj enjoyed it too! Wondering now where else we can get this delish popcorn aside from One Utama.. Yums!

Azwaj has bought a few online guitars in the past months or so. He is so enjoying his purchases and adding more guitars to his DIY guitar cabinet. It is nice to see him jamming with his friends on some weekends and it feels like I have my own concert in the living room :)

Anway, I too have been buying stuff online from my fav store, Groupon. My last few purchases have been awesome but my latest buy is one of the most amazing purchase I had made. It is the Halogen oven. I love it so much that I have been grilling and roasting stuff non-stop.. lol.

More on this amazing buy in coming post!

I have been raving about my new Halogen Oven to all my friends. It is the best buy for my kitchen so far this year from Groupon. The Halogen Oven claims to roast, grills, steam, bake and even fries and we can’t wait to see if their claims were true.

the halogen oven

Immediately upon getting our order delivered, Azwaj decided to try it out and purchase lambs to grill. Normally he would pan-grilled our lambs after marinating for one night but to see see if this oven really works, we decided to skip the marinating part and go straight to grilling. Azwaj made the marinate and just laced it on the lamb. We followed placed the lamb on both decks, turn the knob to 250degrees and turn the timer for 30minutes.

full oven

We were very excited to see the results. If before Azwaj would have to stand by the stove turning two lambs pieces at one time and taking care that the lamb don’t burn on the stove, now we placed ALL the lamb and waited for it to cook.

After 3ominutes… beautifully cooked grilled lamb that the both of us can enjoy at one go! Awesome!

The girls and I had a wonderful time with the company and of the food at T.G.I Fridays last Sunday. Since it was my first time there, I had to sample the food and it was all good as we shared everything. I had a taste of the very delicious “Buffalo Wings”, “Chicken Nanchos” and my very tasty Snapper dish (Not sure what its’ called but it’s all good).

After great conversation and a full tummy, we all then proceeded to search for my very dream shoes.  We passed by so many shops selling all sort of shoes, even medical shoes.. but since I got one in mind from Timberland we just passed by those stores.

Unfortunately, Timberland Malaysia does not have my dream shoes but I settled for an equally awesome one. You can read about it here.

Anyway.. here are some pictures of what we had that Sunday. Enjoy!

If last week saw me eating away in Singapore with plenty of high carb food, this week I’m giving my tummy a break. We went grocery shopping yesterday and even I was amazed at the discpline both me and Azwaj had. No junk and fatty food. Our basket only had vegetables, tofu, fish and meat. So healthy…lol!

Anyway this is what I had for lunch today. “Oven Baked Dory with Salads”.

Oven baked dory with salads and a tinge of thousand island dressing for taste.

Not sure what the menu for dinner will be but it should be equally healthy. I have never felt this healthy before! Now all I need to complete the regime is some exercise and I’m good to go!

Last Saturday, I accompanied Azwaj to his very informal gathering with friends he had not met for over 25years. We suggested to Mustafa Jones Burger and it was a great hit.

Anyway, we found out that one of his friends, Nazura, is a chef. She not only have won numerous cooking contest but also have published a book titled: Citarasa Asli Nazura. As she brought along a few copies, all of us ended buying a copy at RM23 each. It was jam packed with lots of local recipes and I can’t wait to try them all..lol!

On my last trip to Singapore (which also happened to be during Ramadan), me and mommy decided that since there was extra pineapple tart jam, we would make swissroll and use the jam as filling. The swiss roll turned out beautiful and with the home made jam, it was absolutely divine. Isn’t it lovely?

So my kitchen (actually the whole apartment is) in a mess but what do you expect when renovation is going on right? Thankfully the dust is kept to the minimum so my asthma is not acting up or anything. Hopefully all those on as planned and we can even shorten the work time to next Wednesday. I would really love to back to KL on Friday so if it ends on Wednesday, I can help mom put everything back in order.

I may have found a new hobby.. BAKING!  Well actually, I’ve always love baking, in fact much more than cooking but since Azwaj does not really fancy cakes and the likes of it, I became sort of lazy to pursue it.. I mean I can’t possibly eat all those baked stuff myself right.

Anway, last Saturday, I was fortunate enough to have been in Singapore to attend my BFF, Salwah Omar’s, baking class. Salwah is my BFF from junior college and while still maintaining a professional career, she is also an entrepreneur taking orders for wedding cake, cupcakes and conducting baking classes.

Class is in session

The class I attended was for tartlets making. Basically it covers how to make the tartlets shells and for filling, there was blueberry cheese tart, fruit tarts and pecan filling. Since I wasn’t there officially as a student, I offered to help for the day and since it was a demo and hands on class, there was plenty to help around with. So after the students did their first round of tartlets shells, I manned the oven while Salwah taught them how to prepare the filling… but guess what Salwah was nice enough to have prepared enough dough for me and another one of her helper to do our own tartlets… so I got to bring home some of my very own tartlets to share with mommy. I especially love the Blueberry Cheese Tartlets and am sure I will set some time of one these days to do my own… my baking hobby renewed!

My Tartlets Shell and the Blueberry Cheese Tartlets.. Yummy!
